Autumn in Connecticut

Before our departure for the West Coast, Paul and I spent a long weekend with family back in Connecticut. Fall is arguably the best time to visit in New England! The leaves are changing, the apple orchards are thriving, and it’s the perfect backdrop to celebrate my lovers b-day!

Full disclosure: I took most of the pictures below during my run. It was the perfect temp for an outside dash. I was lucky enough to find an awesome trail which included a lakeside barn and a horse farm – I mean…! To top things off I added an NPR podcast all about heirloom apples to my playlist!

That said, there are many ways to get into the autumn spirit in CT. Check out our must-do CT fall list below:

– Pick apples at Blue Jay Orchards (I’m sure there are many options here, but this is my hometown gem!) – be sure to have one of their apple cider donuts.

– Go for a stroll around Kent downtown and then head over to Kent Falls. This state park is an adorable, quintessential hiking area and is the perfect spot to take in all the foliage. If you need a boost, be sure to grab coffee at Kent Coffee and Chocolates and a gourmet sandwich at JP Gifford. You’ll need both after the hike!

– If there is no local fair/festival/extravaganza, call in take-out at Upper Crust Pizzeria and grab a bottle of Malbec at Northville Liquors (right next to Upper Crust). Then, cozy on up by your fireplace under a nice plaid throw from LL Bean to round out a wonderful day.
